My Review

★★★★★

I absolutely loved this book! I sat down and devoured it in less than two hours. I could not stop reading it. It is one of the most romantic love stories I have read in a long time. It made me laugh and cry and I was a little sad when I came to the end of it.

Angelle is a delight! I love watching her go from awkward and timid, to a fiery hellcat. Cane, well what can I say about that man!? He is the embodiment of every fantasy I had growing up! Whew, talk about sexual tension! I thought that they would spontaneously combust every time they were in a room together.

I totally recommend this to anyone that loves a great romance with wonderfully quirky characters and an attraction that will not be denied.

Read on to find out more about the book and to read the guest post by the author. Enjoy!

Book Description:

Angelle Prejean is in a pickle. Her family is expecting her to come home with a fiancé—a fiancé who doesn’t exist. Well, he exists, but he definitely has no idea Angelle told her mama they were engaged. Tattooed, muscled, and hotter than sin, Cane can reduce Angelle to a hot mess with one look—and leave her heart a mess if she falls for him. But when she ends up winning Cane at a charity bachelor auction, she knows just how to solve her fiancé problem.

Cane Robicheaux is no one’s prince. He doesn’t do relationships and he doesn’t fall in love. When sweet, sultry-voiced Angelle propositions him, he hopes their little game can finally get her out of his head. He doesn’t expect her to break through all his barriers. But even as Angelle burrows deeper into his heart, he knows once their seven days are up, so is their ruse.

Guest Post:

Hello, my name is Rachel, and I’m Cajun.

With a maiden name like Thibodeaux, there’s no denying my heritage. Or the fact that I’m from Nawlins. It’s as obvious as the way I axe people questions, bleed black and gold, and chase down floating vehicles for cheap plastic beads. Getting married and moving to Houston hasn’t changed any of those things one bit…I’m still me, just with an occasional longing for home. The people, food, and culture of southeast Louisiana gets under your skin. It’s unique and it’s special, and when I set out to write the Love and Games series, I wanted to showcase exactly that.

Taste the Heat focused on New Orleans. Food was an integral part of the plot, with a chef heroine, a culinary fire captain, and the backdrop of a Cajun restaurant. Family and the city each played a significant role, and I like to think the first book in the series is not just Colby and Jason’s story, but a love letter to the people of New Orleans, too.

Seven Day Fiancé travels a bit, headed west to the heart of Cajun country. Now this was a fun challenge. While I did grow up with parents in the Cajun French Music Association who went to Cajun dances, and had grandparents who spoke French, that didn’t mean I did any of it. I was the unfortunate typical teenager, too cool for all that nonsense. Whenever my parents dragged me to a Cajun dance, I brought along my own music so I could sulk and jam out to Paula Abdul and New Kids on the Block.

As an adult, one of my biggest regrets is not embracing my heritage when I was younger or listening to more of my grandparents’ stories, so I relished this excuse to really dive in and explore. Food, music, culture, family, and language all play a role in this fish-out-of-water story. Bad boy Cane is used to being in control of his life, even upholding a certain image to keep people at a manageable distance. That control gets tossed on its ear when he enters Angelle’s world, and I enjoyed every single minute.

From boucheries to cracklins to things that are “hot hot,” I hope you enjoy this glimpse into the real Cajun lifestyle. It’s nothing like the movie Waterboy, I assure you. And it’s my hope that while you fall hard for Cane, and open your heart to Angelle, that you also fall a little in love with the state that I will always call home.

Laissez les bon temps rouler!

I’m Cajun, but we all have our own unique family histories. If you could write a book introducing the world to YOURS, what would it be about? Would it be a romantic comedy like mine?
