Plumb Crazy
Release Date: 06/10/14
Summary from Goodreads:
Small town country
girl Elva Presley Hicks is about to attend her five-year class reunion with her
best friends, Shay and Margarett.
The discovery of an old fanfic manuscript stirs up memories of her summer job as a plumber’s helper in Houston the summer before senior year. She earned a lot of money that year, but was lonely as heck.
It's not like there weren't any suitors back then. Elva could have chosen between Chase, the obese pig farmer, and Wyatt, the plumber with wandering hands. But Elva yearned for something more, and found it that fateful summer, with electrician, Mitch McCall.
It was magical. Mitch wasn't turned off by Elva's name or fan fiction writing, and Elva didn't lose interest in Mitch after he cut off his nose at work.
Trials and triumphs followed including a friendship implosion, world-wide fanfic humiliation, and goat salvation. It would go down as the most memorable summer of high school.
But as these things sometimes do, the summer romance fizzled and Elva moved on to life after high school. And while she's ready to reminisce, she is unnerved when she runs into Mitch at the reunion. Can they give it another go after so much time has passed, or are they too different now to even try?

Excerpt
Elva
munched the last fry as they entered the plumbing shop parking lot.
She licked her fingers. A man in his twenties straddled a gold Harley
outside the dull metal shop building.
He
wore a Stetson, but it didn’t hide his chiselled face—a GQ God,
sculpted, perfect. Elva climbed out of the truck, and he gave her
“the look,” the honest to God “checking you out” look.
Let
him look, she thought. Her double D boobs weren’t one of the most
common sights in the universe.
A
very short man, even shorter than Papaw, scurried out of a corrugated
metal garage door.
“Get
your damn butts to your damn jobs on time, damn it. I damn sure don’t
want to lose any more damn money. Damn it all to hell.”
Everyone
nodded, so Elva obliged by nodding too.
“Mr.
Bob, what about my gal?” Papaw asked.
“Elva
Presley?” One man snickered and ‘damn’ man, Mr. Bob, laughed
out loud.
“Damn,
I didn’t think your damn granddaughter would show, damn it.” He
put his hand on his head and shouted with laughter.
Elva
tried to smile but instead stretched her lips over her teeth like a
Rottweiler rubbed the wrong way. What had she thought it would be
like?
“The
gal gets one damn week trial. Elva’s assigned to Yves’s damn team
today,” Mr. Bob said. “At the damn valve company.”
“Should
we start Elva out on industrial?” Papaw asked.
“You
said she could do the damn work.”
“She
can, but, hell, it’s an industrial job.”
“I
can do it.” Elva stepped forward. “Who’s Yves?” She surveyed
the group of men standing in a semi-circle.
“I’m
Yves.” Another short man answered. He was maybe thirty with
thinning hair and hazel eyes. Elva stuck her hand out, and he stared
at her with a halfopened mouth. Not a good first contact situation,
but he finally took her offered hand.
The
GQ God stepped up and smiled at her. “I’m Wyatt.” His fingers
wrapped around her hand. Warmth shot up from her stomach to her face
like water bursting from an artesian well.
“You
look pretty sturdy.” Wyatt leaned toward her, smiling. How did he
get his teeth that white? He smelled forestry-like and clean, and she
couldn’t help taking a deep whiff.
“I’m
Elva.” Her face turned hot.
“Pleased
to meet you.” Wyatt doffed his hat and placed it over his heart.
Elva
ducked her head. “Likewise.”
“We’re
with Yves. Follow me.” He headed to a nearby plumbing truck.
Elva
paid particular attention to his backside. Wyatt had bulging muscles
and skin-tight Levi’s.
They
all climbed in the pick-up and sped away from the shop, taking side
streets. Yves was driving, and Wyatt had pulled his hat over his
eyes. Elva sat in the middle, smashed up against Wyatt’s leg. She
wished for a cell phone so she could call Shay and Margarett and
covertly describe every delicious Wyatt detail.
